The Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) is launching Ontario’s Solutions 2030 Challenge, a global competition to help solve industry challenges related to greenhouse gas emissions. The three-part competition is offering up to $7 million to support technology demonstration with the winning team eligible for up to $3 million. Assessment criteria include: transformative technology capable of reducing GHG emissions reductions, cross-sectoral capacity, global market potential, potential environmental and economic benefits, scientific and technical merit, realism of the proposed plan and cost effectiveness. The deadline for the first phase is September 22 to select applicants that meet the criteria, phase II will focus on prototypes and phase III will be devoted to demonstration. OCE reserves the right to issue additional calls for new entries at each phase of the challenge.
